Our Commitment with Trees for Life
By Donna James, Research Director at Populus Select
We are proud to partner with Trees for Life, an organisation that has been at the cutting edge of rewilding the Scottish Highlands. Its aim is to foster biodiversity, expand habitats, and support people in the landscape, closing the gap between people and nature. This includes the reintroduction and propagation of red squirrels, lynx, and rare trees.
Trees for Life has recently had a conservation breakthrough having successfully encouraged the rare and ecologically important aspen tree to flower under controlled conditions – enabling it to produce much-needed seeds that can be used for propagation.
As a corporate ‘Juniper Partner’ we make donations for every placement we make. That means that you support this exciting and important ecological project when you partner with us for your recruitment needs.
Our partnership with Trees for Life has grown from action closer to home. We have donated time, tools, and our sweat to plant trees in the Darlington Forest Project, an endeavor that aims to double the tree coverage in Darlington by 2030.
Trees for Life engages in various rewilding initiatives to revive the Scottish Highlands. They collaborate with landowners, conserve native pinewoods, reintroduce species like red squirrels, and work towards projects like the reintroduction of lynx.
Their conservation work extends to habitat recovery for beavers and the restoration of Caledonian forests. Trees for Life also supports community efforts in ecological stewardship and encourages public involvement in these projects.
